Some content moderators have to deal with some rather horrifying images so that others won't have to. If you are in such a position and feel that you can't take much more of it, you can turn to SafeMind and try to protect yourself. This little utility does your mental health a favor by placing a filter on your screen, which you can use to censor any unsettling content. You can block out sexual or bloody scenes without any effort and still be able to do your job.

SafeMind is free to try for a few days, with some minor functionality restrictions. It works on all modern Windows systems and it supports both 32 and 64-bit editions. What's more, the software doesn't need to be installed, so you can enjoy its functionality in no time.

When launched, SafeMind will place a transparent window on your screen, accompanied by a control panel, which gives you the possibility of adjusting the censorship level. You can move the transparent window over anything on your screen and resize it if necessary. Moving a slider on the control panel will pixelate everything beneath the window. The further you move the slider, the harder the pixelation.

The software lets you interact with anything beneath its window, even if it's pixelated. You can also reveal pixelated content in a selected area, so you can still do your work, even if you can't censor one item without another. If you can't pixelate a video or other contents, because you have to look at it and make sure everything is right, you can at least turn the image to black and white or invert the colors, which, according to some people, can reduce the psychological impact.

SafeMind comes with snapshot capabilities as well. If you need to capture an image from somewhere, but you don't have the stomach to look at it for too long, you can just click a button on the software's control panel to take a snapshot of the content it's hiding, with or without the filters and pixelation.

If you have to moderate disturbing content on a daily basis, SafeMind will help you avoid the mental scars that come with the territory.

Pros

You can pixelate content you don't want to see. The software gives you a good degree of control over its filters. It lets you remove the pixelation from specific areas and take snapshots.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks, apart from the trial limitations.
